Even Kangna Ranaut couldn’t save Imran Khan’s sagging career

Seems like when Imran Khan was down and out, he was short-changed by his leading ladies. Post his continuous flops in 2012-13; no actress was ready to act along with him in Katti Batti.

Nikhil Advani apparently approached leading actresses including Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif but all refused to share the screen along side Imran Khan. But there was a YES for the movie script. Advani however was reluctant to produce a flop with Imran.

It was Ranaut who demanded Rs. 11 crore to bring a Donald smile on everyone’s face and has no issues with the co-star.

KattiBatti

Remembering the time when Hema Malini revived the sagging career of Rajesh Khanna and Manoj Kumar in Prem Nagar and Sanyasi respectivily. The same was expected by the duo but looking at the mixed but mostly negative reviews that Katti Batti has received on its opening, the history ain’t going to repeat itself and the soon turned father would try harder to compete with the likes of performance demanding audience.

Yes, Katti Batti received mostly negative reviews and critics have pleaded to avoid the confused non savoring story.

Would you still like to give Katti Batti a try?

The star cast is not yet public but we would love a reprise of Baccha, Sunder and Sadhu Yadav with the brilliant magic portrayed by Ajay Devgn in well applauded 2003 drama.

The legendary A.R Rehman faces fatwa from chief of Raza Academy

They say that magic is the resultant when two legends come along. But, things went otherwise when the legendary Iranian film director Majid Majidi and our very own music maestro A.R. Rahman came together for an Iranian film Muhammad: Messenger of God.

Rehman

The Mumbai based ‘Raza Academy‘ has now issued a fatwa against everyone who are involved in the project. This also includes the famous Iranian director Majid Majidi and the music composer A.R. Rahman.

Saeed Noorie (Chief of Raza Academy) said, “There is a film that has been made in Iran which has been titled Muhammad: Messenger of God. Whenever a cinegoer watches any film, if the film is good, then, he/ she names the film and says that the film is good. In case the film turns out to be bad/ not suiting to his/her expectations, the very cinegoer will name the film and term it as a bad film, which will mean an insult to the Prophet. That is the reason why we are objecting to the said film’s name. Till about yesterday, Muslims were against cartoons, and today’s situation is that, there is a full film that is being made. Just because it has been made by a Muslim country, one cannot remain silent.

When asked about their proposed next step, Saeed Noorie said, “We haven’t got any reply so far to the Fatwa. But, we will contact Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to demand a ban on the film and legal action be taken against A.R. Rahman and Majid Majidi for hurting the feelings of Muslims.”

Hero Movie Reviews by various sites

Hero which released today generally ended up having negative reviews from most of the critics.

Sooraj Pancholi and Aditya Shetty starred did not make any promises with its flashy trailer, neither does the movie impresses with a waxed & tattoed lead actor who misses to own the screen. Let’s have a look at the trailer first

Now, let’s see what the top critics have to say post the premier show. You can click on the site name to read the detailed review

Hero is a complete throwback of the ‘Ek Gunda Ek IG Ki Beti Se Kaise Pyaar Kar Sakta Hai’ era. Nikhil Advani misses out on presenting a completely entertaining plot. All the elements seem scattered and hence there is neither enough romance nor action nor drama. The screenplay is a little hotchpotch and that is what affects the film badly.

Nikhil Advani had a hit story, a fresh young pair of actors at his disposal and he unfortunately chose the safe route of the same old, with all the commercial trappings intact. Clearly not much thought is put into the screenplay. A shallow screenplay and a rather convoluted story flouting logic work against the film.

Hero isn’t set in 1983 and the original’s ‘top cop’s daughter falls for a golden-hearted crook’ narrative has long bitten dust. Unsurprisingly, this struggle to fit a modern-day romance in a dated template prompts a patchy, wobbly, bizarre, humourless drama proving an uphill task for two rank newcomers to tackle.

Nikhil Advani’s HERO has been aggressively marketed and no corners have been cut to ensure that the promotions reach all across. If only the same amount of passion was invested in writing a nice dramatic entertainer. All the hype may result in a somewhat decent start at the box office, but the word of mouth isn’t going to be flattering at all. On the whole, HERO fails the litmus test of rehashing a classic for the Generation Next. It appeals in very small measures and is not an ideal weekend entertainer. If you a die-hard Salman Khan fan, you may want to patronise, else avoid.

Sculpted as a full throttle masala entertainer, Hero is plot-heavy. And while you are well acquainted with the story, Nikhil and Salman’s sensibility works as midas touch, giving the film a different texture. It is slick and never allows its viewers to feel restless. For its 132 minutes’ crisp runtime, Hero offers bucketful of entertainment and victoriously conveys that commercial movies needn’t be puerile to show people a good time.

While you sneak peak further, let’s get heroed with Salmaan’s cleared voice – Main Tera Hero

It’s difficult to say what debutants Pancholi and Shetty are capable of because Advani’s remake of Subhash Ghai’s Hero starts off as awful and ends as boring. Hero is a ’90s’ film that should never have been taken out of the vault.Hero is ill-conceived, outdated and lazily made, with neither director nor crew giving a hoot for details like continuity or logic. On the plus side, things can only look up for Pancholi and Shetty after this, because it’s going to be tough to find a project as forgettable as Hero

Watching Hero is like refreshing your Facebook timeline, hoping for a like or a comment. Except nothing happens. The movie moves from one bizarre scene to the other making you realize that those Candy Crush invites are NOT the most irritating thing in the world. .Bad writing, poor direction and average performances make Hero forgettable. Hope Nikhil Advani redeems himself next weekend with Katti Batti!

The songs have hit the soul for some, a clip of one

Hero had Salman Khan, it wouldn’t have been so bad. Because he knows how to totally own the screen, even when everything – from the screenplay to the direction – is missing. And no, not everyone can do it. I do feel bad for the two star kids, who were evidently trying to give their best but in vain. Just Alt+Ctrl+Delete everything you see before Salman Khan comes and sings Main Hoon Hero Tera.

Are you planning to watch the movie? Well, with the reviews above, there’s nothing you can look forward to.

What’s your say?

Happy Birthday Anurag Kashyap

[Source: Wikipedia] Anurag Singh Kashyap is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. He has received acclaim for his realistic films, and is often regarded as the face of an emerging new wave cinema for producing numerous independent films with newcomers. For his contributions to film, the Government of France awarded him the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2013.

Anurag

After writing a television serial, Kashyap got his major break as a co-writer in Ram Gopal Varma‘s crime drama Satya (1998), and made his directorial debut with Paanch, which never had a theatrical release due to censorship issues. He then went on to directBlack Friday (2007), a film based on the book by Hussain Zaidi about the 1993 Bombay bombings. Its release was held up for two years by the Central Board of Film Certification because of the pending verdict of the case at that time, but was released in 2007 to widespread critical appreciation. Kashyap’s followup, No Smoking (2007) met with negative reviews and performed poorly at the box-office. However Return of Hanuman, a animation children’s film about the adventures of the Hindu god Hanuman showed his versatility and was praised. His next venture Dev.D (2009), a modern adaptation of Devdas was a critical and commercial success. It was followed by Gulaal (2009), and the thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots (2011), both films also received critical acclaim. His prominence increased with the two-part crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 and Part 2 (2012). His next films were Bombay Talkies (2013), Ugly (2014) and Bombay Velvet (2015).

Apart from filmmaking, Kashyap serves as the Member of board of the Mumbai-based NGO, Aangan, which helps protect vulnerable children around India. He is the founder of two film production companies: Anurag Kashyap Films, which is run by Guneet Monga,Phantom Films with partnership from director’s Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and producer Madhu Mantena.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil vs Shivaay

Karan Johar has come again in the director’s chair after a gap of three years. His previous venture ‘Student of the year‘ was a hit but criticized by many although it gave us 3 stars. Johar is not stepping up with his co stars of ‘Bombay Velvet‘ which marked his acting debut in a full fledged role.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will star Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in leading roles. The filming has rolled in London and is set to hit the big screens next 30th October 2016 i.e. Diwali along with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay. The film deals with relationships and heartbreaks, a genre Karan Johar has been pretty comfortable with.

Poster

Interestingly, Sunny Leone too will be seen seducing the 32 years aged Ranbir Kapoor as the neighborhood hottie.

The movie would be deeply on relationships, heartbreaks and how love completes you, and yet how you crave for more. The movie is about falling in love with a person intensively and heartbreaks. As per reports, Aishwarya Rai will be seen playing a role of Ranbir’s wife in the movie and Anushka would be Ranbir’s girlfriend.

Anushka Sharma says – ‘“This is one film I am really looking forward to shooting. And it is a brilliant casting for sure”.

The director Karan Johar says – ‘The film I am directing has Ranbir, Anushka and Aishwarya. I am very excited and can’t wait to direct Aishwarya and Anushka as I have never worked at all with both of them. He further says, it is a triangular love story, and has a lot of fashion and style in it

Fawad Khan has joined the cast of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and also does a cameo role in the film.

Gangs of Wasseypur 3 ?

Remember Definite Khan, Sardar Khan’s son from his second wife Durga? Yes, Definite Khan (Zeishan Quadri) who wrote the story and co-wrote the screenplay of Gangs of Wasseypur 1 & 2 has been approached by Anurag Kashyap to script down Part 3 and he has started doing that. The 5 hour long movie was released in two parts in India, in June and August 2012. Zeishan also bagged several awards as Best Dialogue Writer for the franchise.

Zeishan

The 31 year old writer-director-actor is overwhelmed: ‘It’s great when your mentor appreciates your work. I am what I am today because of Anurag sir’s guidance and encouragement‘.

Anurag Kashyap finds himself in Zeishan and is keen that he should in fact direct the third in this franchise. The movie is subjected to release next year.

Zeishan is currently working on his debut directional – Meeruthiya GangsterLet us quickly look what the first and second part trailed us.
